no answering message, generic or otherwiseAugust 27, 2010 Sharon K. Yntema(Ithaca, NY United States) There are two big problems:
1. It is not clear how to activate the answer message at all. When people call in, they say it just rings and rings
2. There is no personalized answering option, although even a generic would be better than nothing.
I'm probably missing something, but I've read the manual a couple of times and can't figure it out.
Basic cordless phoneAugust 27, 2010 V-Tech CS5111 5.8GHz Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Silver/Black)
I recieved this item this week, and find it to be a very goood item, woorthj the money.
It is a basic coordless phone, having memory,CID recall, excellant sound quality, very easy to program and use.
I bought it as a recon unit, thus had no manual.I downloaded one in PDF format from [...],and thus learned to program it and use it's full functions.
It doesn't have a voice mail(unless you subscribe to voice mail thru your phone carrier),but does have CID recall of missed numbers,so one can look up missed calls.
It has excellant range.I tested it to 100 feet from the base unit.It comes reconditioned with new three cell ni-cd batttery pack.
I would say it's well worth the askiong price if one wants just a basic, reliable cordless phone.
Don't buy this phone!August 15, 2010 C. Deichsel Worked ok for a few weeks, then started whistling/feedback sounds. When a call would come in, you couldn't understand a word that had been recorded. POS!
Does the jobJuly 20, 2010 M. Lam(California, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Probably the quickest cordless phone I ever set up. Caller ID is a plus and the numbers are stored when I am not there to answer. Call quality is good, the handset does what it's supposed to, but it definitely feels and looks cheap. You get what you pay for, but I'm happy since I was just looking for the cheapest cordless phone.
Does the job and at a cheap priceJuly 10, 2010 Stewart 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My old phone was, frankly, big, clunky, and I was too lazy to clean the dust and grime off of it. Since I have been using my cell phone for many years almost exclusively, I only needed a decent quality phone at a cheap price and this phone fills the requirements perfectly. I like the looks of it but can't comment on any of the many features as I just don't use or have a need for them except for keeping the ringer off (but I imagine most phones have that feature these days). Has a good range from the handset and I've talked at length without having to put it back in the "cradle" or whatever to recharge.
Seems to dial slowly after you enter a phone # in and click "talk", but a minor annoyance. Seeing the phone # you dialed should be clearer or brighter but that would be the only downsides. For less than 20 bucks, it gets the job done and doesn't look like cheap junk.
