Laminated tapes are water resistant, it can be used outdoors, as well as indoors. It shrugs off spills of any kind from water, to oil, to chemicals and won't fade under harsh UV rays. And it stays on through hot and cold environments from freezers to microwaves.

Having been a P-touch user for many years, the newer models are greatly improved over the earlier models. This is also true of their labeling tapes. The earlier versions had problems jamming, aligning the clear plastic cover over the colored label base and were hard to peel away the backing without the special tool which always seems to get lost. The new tapes are greatly improved, especially with the dual peel away backing.

I am so glad I switched to the Brother label system (specifically the PT9500PC P-touch Label Maker for the Mac). These cartridges are just a fantastic. Not a single Jam since we left Dynmo!
