Nicely made, smooth silicone-like finish, sturdy construction, good speed, fair price, and on-time delivery. What else could I possibly ask for? Def recommend.

Not the fastest USB drive, but works wellMay 15, 2010 Charlie(Michigan USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The price was right and I decided to pick one up to use in the car. I didn't like the idea of using my more expensive Patriot XT or OCZ Rally2 USB drives in a car just for storing music. The Patriot XT and OCZ Rally2 are my benchmark standards for transfer speeds, with the XT's (4GB and 16GB) writing at about 9-10 MB/s and reading at 25 MB/s based on ATTO's file benchmark tests.
I purchased an old GFM 2GB USB drive about 3 years ago when it was on sale. I think that it was made by the same manufacturer that produces the Dane-Elec USB drives, but this was obviously an older model. It had very poor performance figures. That one wrote at 2.5 MB/s and read at 11.5 MB/s using ATTO.
This Dane-Elec 4GB USB was marketed as ReadyBoost capable and I tested it using ATTO to find that it writes at 5.5 MB/s and reads at 17 MB/s. It also exhibits odd behavior when using EJECT via Windows Vista. I found that if I selected "Safely Remove", it would eject properly. Using "Eject" would cause the light to blink uncontrollably.
After using this drive in the car for over a week to play music via the built-in USB interface, I did not encounter any problems. The capless design makes it simple to carry around, although the capless part is very stiff.
4GB will store quite a bit of data, and the Dane-Elec is usually available at decent prices so it does have a lot of bang for the buck. Although if you want speed and quality, look to spend a bit more for a Patriot XT or OCZ Rally2.
Pros: Bang for the buck, decent transfer speeds, capless design
Cons: Does not come with a neck/wrist strap, quirky behavior when using EJECT command
Overall: 4/5
No cap to lose!May 15, 2010 R. A. Myers 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this flash drive. It's great not to have to fumble with and eventually lose the cap. The armored exterior is an extra bonus.
Doesn't workMay 5, 2010 Peter(San Mateo, CA United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have the 8 GB model. It worked briefly and then just stopped. No computer will even recognize it. I have tried it on both Windows XP and Windows 7 machines. There's no software or support available from Dane, so I'm just stuck with throwing it out. I wouldn't ever buy another Dane product.
